Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 days in office)

Contract: Temporary (3 Months)

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Adviser to join our team on a temporary basis, supporting a dynamic local authority service. This role is crucial in preventing homelessness and assisting vulnerable individuals in finding sustainable housing solutions. You will be instrumental in implementing the Homelessness Reduction Act and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct housing needs assessments for individuals seeking assistance.
  • Develop and manage Personalised Housing Plans tailored to individual circumstances.
  • Handle a complex caseload in a high-demand environment.
  • Proactively work to prevent and relieve homelessness through:
  • Advice and guidance
  • Advocacy
  • Negotiation and mediation
  • Explore all available housing options to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Assess and investigate homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Make legally sound decisions and communicate outcomes clearly to applicants.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, Code of Guidance, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Experience in housing options, homelessness prevention, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Homelessness Reduction Act.
  • Strong understanding of Housing Act 1996 (Part VII).
  • Experience managing a busy caseload within a local authority or housing setting.
  • Proven ability to prevent homelessness through practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex cases with professionalism and empathy.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a pressurised environment.
