Environmental Health Officer

Job Overview

We are offering an initial temporary contract of 6 months with Bromley Council for an Environmental Health Officer. The contract includes 2 days remote and 3 days in the office, located at BR1 1AS
.

• Investigate all relevant service requests in accordance with divisional procedures and ensure remedial action is undertaken, including housing inspections and enforcement action when necessary.
• Carry out proactive and reactive inspections of properties in the borough to identify unsatisfactory housing conditions, prepare and serve statutory notices, and attend court where necessary.
• Provide advice to members of the public, tenants, landlords, businesses and other relevant groups to assist them in complying with legislation.
• Participate in developing and implementing the private sector housing strategy, taking the lead on requested parts.
• Provide expert EH advice on Planning Applications Consultations.
• Maintain accurate records of the activities undertaken in addressing complaints on the Council's Uniform IDOX document management system/complaints database.

• Experience working with relevant legislation in a related area; experience within a local authority is an advantage.
• Wide working knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation, especially in nuisance and private sector housing.
