About Us
Our Greenwich Plan sets out our vision for the next 4 years, focusing on the changes we collectively want to see in our borough and Council. We want to become a more strategic, efficient and adaptive organisation, to deliver for our communities. Our workforce is key to making this happen.
Royal Greenwich is a borough synonymous with first-class modern services. Our vibrant, diverse communities span Greenwich town centre in the west, to Thamesmead in the east, from the Greenwich Peninsula in the north to Eltham in the south. Royal Greenwich has a reputation for combining ambition with delivery. We are on a journey towards a low‑carbon future, and the sustainability agenda will influence all areas of the Council’s work.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Council’s ambitions for our future transport network, implement high‑profile schemes and maintain a strong grip on the delivery of key projects. To be successful in this post, you will be as comfortable with strategy as you are with leading large operations. You will need to bring energy, tenacity and strong communication skills.
You will thrive on data and evaluation to evidence and inform delivery and service improvements. Above all, you’ll be committed to delivering an efficient, well‑connected network that our residents love – with a carbon footprint that we can be proud of, as well as delivering the council's Transport Strategy.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Traffic Engineer, AutoCAD experience is required. The postholder will work on behalf of Royal Greenwich Council to help with the delivery of a range of traffic engineering projects and improvements. This is a career‑graded post, and the salary will depend on your skills and experience. Please refer to the person specification for the list of duties and associated grade.
AboutYou
We are looking for a strong, highly motivated individual who is a team player, with energy and a strong commitment to probity, honesty, and openness, and who treats people consistently, fairly, and with respect. With a keen interest and relevant experience in traffic engineering, you will understand local government and the legislative context of this role. You will also be an excellent communicator, who can prioritise a busy workload with the ability to learn about and support the delivery of innovative solutions to traffic issues.
If you are considering using A.I. tools for your application, these tools often miss the personal touch and validity that show what makes you a strong candidate. We would love to see your thoughts and skills in your own words, as this helps us understand your personality.
