Salary: PO1-PO4 £ 43,308 per annum – to £54,360 per annum including LW starting grade depending on qualifications/experience

The Private Sector Licensing and Enforcement team provides a frontline service to improve housing conditions within the private rented sector and bring properties up to standard. We support and advise private tenants, homeowners, and private landlords, working to ensure people renting privately live in decent houses and have a place to call home.

The successful candidate will carry out Environmental Health functions to enable the Council to meet its statutory obligations in relation to private sector housing licensing, including inspection, enforcement, education and advice. The role requires effective interpersonal and communication skills. The postholder will act as an Authorised Officer of the Council, performing statutory functions in accordance with the current scheme of delegation.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to conduct inspections and enforcement actions; solid knowledge of housing licensing legislation; competence in environmental health; and the capacity to perform statutory functions in line with the delegation scheme.
