About The Role
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor, and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.
This is a rare opportunity to be part of MOPAC as a Strategic Communications Senior Advisor, shaping and delivering strategic communications on our oversight of the Metropolitan Police to ensure an efficient and effective service; our investments in crime‑prevention projects to make communities safer; and the vital services we commission to support victims of crime.
The post holder will work with colleagues in MOPAC, the Greater London Authority group and the Metropolitan Police Service to plan, develop and deliver proactive external communications and campaign work, provide expert advice to senior leaders, and ensure staff are well‑informed and engaged through supporting internal communications, creating consistency and clarity across all audiences.
We are looking for a skilled and impactful communicator who can evidence sound judgement, exceptional partnership skills and a proven ability to work effectively under pressure.
Application ProcessCandidates must submit their CV and employment history and answer the following supplementary questions (around 1,500 characters per answer):
- Outline your experience in advising on and delivering effective strategic communications.
- Describe how you have shown political awareness and ability to exercise judgement, discretion, and sensitivity in your work.
- Describe how you have worked in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful communications.
- Outline your experience in delivering impactful communications under tight time pressure.
Interviews are currently planned to take place on 29 and 30 July. An assessment task will be part of the selection process.
