About UsLocated in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London's largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese‑speaking community.
With exceptional schools, lush green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and world‑renowned institutions such as St Thomas's Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching and dynamic environment.
The Private Sector Licensing and Enforcement team provides a frontline service to improve housing conditions within the private rented sector and bring properties up to standard. We support and advise private tenants, homeowners, and private landlords with the team working towards ensuring people renting privately live in decent houses and a place to call home.
The team is dynamic, forward‑thinking and plenty of opportunities for development and growth.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will carry out Environmental Health functions to enable the Council to meet its statutory obligations, in respect of private sector housing licensing including inspection, enforcement, education and advice. The role requires effective interpersonal and communication skills and the postholder will act as an Authorised Officer of the Council in the performance of the statutory functions in accordance with the current scheme of delegation.
EEOStatement
