Job Overview
The TUC is looking for a Policy Lead to contribute to our work on employment rights and wider labour market policy. This position has been created to boost the TUC’s policy capacity during significant shifts in the UK labour market. The role will support our response to new legislation and a rapidly changing economy, and will suit someone who is comfortable analysing draft regulations and writing briefings for our General Secretary while committing to better outcomes for working people.
Key Responsibilities- Develop evidence‑based policy on employment rights and labour market issues.
- Write compelling and accessible content, ranging from blogs on the TUC’s website to detailed responses to government consultations.
- Evaluate and communicate a range of data sources, from legal material to quantitative data.
- Support the TUC’s response to new legislation and evolving economic conditions.
- Provide briefing material for senior leadership, including the General Secretary.
- Experience in evidence‑based policy development on employment rights and/or labour market matters.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, engaging content for a broad audience.
- Proficiency in evaluating varied data sources, including legal texts and quantitative datasets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK labour market policy and current legislative developments.
- Commitment to delivering better outcomes for working people.
- Salary: £67,674 per annum including London Weighting, rising incrementally to £68,858 (pro rata) per annum including LW. Fixed‑term 18‑month contract, 35 hours a week.

. - Flexible working: up to five days per fortnight from home.
