I am currently working with a Local Authority in Norfolk seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) or Technical Officer to join their Environmental Protection and Community Safety team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced officer with a strong background in environmental enforcement, anti-social behaviour investigations, noise nuisance, and community safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied caseload and supporting the council in delivering an effective front-line Environmental Protection service.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate and manage Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) cases.
- Respond to complaints relating to noise and statutory nuisance.
- Undertake environmental crime enforcement, including fly-tipping and waste-related offences.
- Carry out inspections, investigations and evidence gathering.
- Prepare case files and support enforcement action.
- Serve warnings, notices and other statutory enforcement measures where appropriate.
- Work closely with Housing, Police, Community Safety teams and external partners.
- Provide advice and guidance to residents and businesses on environmental health matters.
- Previous Local Authority experience within Environmental Health, Environmental Protection, Public Protection or Community Safety.
- Experience investigating ASB, noise nuisance and statutory nuisance complaints.
- Knowledge of environmental crime enforcement, including fly-tipping and waste offences.
- Strong understanding of relevant environmental and enforcement legislation.
- Ability to independently manage a varied caseload.
- Experience carrying out inspections, investigations and evidence gathering.
- Excellent communication and case management skills.
- Environmental Health qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience preparing enforcement cases and serving statutory notices.
- Full UK driving licence.
