Housing Register Officer

We are currently seeking an experienced Housing Register Officer to join a busy Housing team within an East London Local Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing new and existing applications to the Housing Register, ensuring households are assessed accurately and in line with the Council's housing allocation policies.

• Assess Housing Register applications and re-registrations, ensuring information remains accurate and up to date.
• Determine applicants' eligibility, effective date, level of priority and any special circumstances affecting their application.
• Activate applications for households that meet the qualifying criteria.
• Assess requests for additional preference on medical grounds.
• Provide clear and comprehensive housing advice, including alternative housing options for applicants who do not qualify for the register.
• Communicate decisions clearly to applicants and manage enquiries relating to their applications.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure assessments are completed within required timescales.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of housing legislation and allocations, alongside excellent assessment, communication and customer service skills.
