Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in North London, are looking for an experienced Debt Recovery & Enforcement Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their debt recovery operations.

Job Purpose
  • The Debt Recovery & Enforcement Officer is responsible for recovering and enforcing debts on behalf of the Council, including Council Tax, NEC Sundry Debts (Oracle Advanced Collections), and other debt recovery portfolios. The role ensures all debts are collected efficiently, fairly and in accordance with relevant legislation, case law, local policies and the Council’s Debt Recovery Policy, while protecting the Council’s financial interests and maintaining high standards of customer service.
Job Responsibilities
  • Recover outstanding debts and maximise income collection across assigned debt portfolios.
  • Ensure debt recovery and enforcement actions are carried out in line with legislation, case law, Council policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide advice and support to customers while balancing the Council’s duty to collect revenue.
Job Requirements
  • Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and achieve positive debt recovery outcomes.
  • Understanding of debt recovery and enforcement processes relating to County Court and/or Magistrates’ Court procedures.
