Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housing Landlord Complaints Investigator to join our housing department. In this vital role, you will be responsible for investigating complaints lodged against private landlords, ensuring compliance with housing regulations, and protecting the rights of tenants. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of housing laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive cases with professionalism and discretion.

You will work closely with tenants, landlords, and other stakeholders to resolve disputes, identify issues of non-compliance, and contribute to creating safer and more equitable housing conditions within our community. This role requires thorough investigative skills, evidence gathering, and report writing that can withstand scrutiny in potential enforcement actions. Responsibilities
  • Investigate complaints against private landlords promptly and thoroughly.
  • Gather evidence and document findings accurately to support enforcement decisions.
  • Liaise with tenants and landlords to facilitate dispute resolution and provide guidance on housing standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation and local authority policies.
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports and case summaries for management and, where necessary, legal proceedings.
  • Identify patterns of non-compliance or malpractice and recommend appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to support housing enforcement initiatives.
