- Investigate environmental crime, flytipping, littering, and other public protection issues.
- Carry out enforcement activities in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) and Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) where appropriate.
- Examine fly-tipped waste to identify evidence, addresses, and individuals responsible for offences.
- Gather evidence, take statements, prepare case files, and support prosecutions where required.
- Conduct inspections, patrols, and site visits across the borough.
- Engage with residents, businesses, and partner agencies to resolve environmental and community safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and enforcement documentation using council systems.
- Previous experience within a Public Protection, Environmental Enforcement, Community Safety, Waste Enforcement, or similar enforcement role.
- Proven experience issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) and Community Protection Warnings (CPWs).
- Experience investigating flytipping and environmental offences.
- Strong understanding of relevant enforcement legislation and procedures.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence.
The role operates on a rotating shift basis, including:
- 6:00am - 2:00pm
- 8:00am - 4:00pm
- 10:00am - 6:00pm
- In addition, a late shift of 1:00pm - 9:00pm will be required once every six weeks.
