Overview
The Maternity Services at Barts Health, Royal London site are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Bereavement Midwife to join our team of specialised midwives. This is a permanent 1.0 WTE B7 position. Job share/part time will be considered.
This role involves providing care, support and practical advice to women and their families following the loss of their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or sudden infant death syndrome. The post holder will work across areas of the Trust including maternity, neonatal unit, A&E and gynaecology wards, and will ensure adherence to the National Care Bereavement Pathway.
Part of this role includes developing a teaching package and supporting junior midwives and other health care professionals to ensure all staff are familiar with bereavement documentation and procedures to sustain the service 24/7 throughout the year.
Responsibilities- Provide care, support and practical guidance to women and families affected by bereavement.
- Work across maternity, neonatal, A&E and gynaecology wards to uphold bereavement standards.
- Ensure compliance with the National Care Bereavement Pathway.
- Develop and deliver a teaching package; support and mentor junior midwives and other health care professionals.
- Maintain bereavement documentation and procedures to sustain services across all hours of the day and year.
- Experience as a midwife with Bereavement experience or a desire to specialise in Bereavement care.
- Ability to work across multiple departments and to support staff training and documentation.
