We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced registered pharmacy technician committed to developing knowledge and skills to improve patient care in General Practice. GL@GP recruits, employs, trains and supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in General Practice to deliver high quality patient services. We currently deliver Practice/PCN Pharmacist services to a number of General Practices and PCNs across Greater London.

We have a reputation for providing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who are ready to work in general practice by preparing and training them using experienced practice based pharmacists (PBPs) and GP Trainers. We work with the GP partners in the Bromley-by-Bow Health Partnership to enable a training environment for pharmacists and technicians using online services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work at and deliver quality care to patients in Barnet (PCN
3) through efficient medicines optimisation. This will include the assessment of patients own drugs, medicine reconciliation and checking adherence when patients request medications for issue. The post holder will work with the Practice Based Pharmacists (PBPs) and Prescription Administrators to continually develop the service, while maintaining high standards and achieving best practice to meet the needs of patients.

We are looking for a pharmacy technician who can work closely with the clinical and admin teams to ensure the efficient processing of repeat prescriptions including medication monitoring for high risk drugs.

Working with the practice pharmacist(s), you will also be responsible for the monitoring and action of drug safety alerts, medication reconciliations for discharge and clinical letters.

    Person Specification Qualifications
    • GPhC registration
    • Evidence of CPD
    • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APTUK)
    Experience
    • Working effectively within multidisciplinary groups
    • Post qualification experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or community pharmacy setting
    • Dealing with patients/public e.g. patient counselling
    • Understanding of prescribing, dispensing and Medicines Management issues
    • Medicines management experience in a ward-based setting, e.g. medication history taking, medicines reconciliation
    • Adhering to and applying strict confidentiality
    • Microsoft Office software
    • Management of staff
    • Education & training of staff
    • Recruitment and selection experience
    • Post qualification experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital & community pharmacy setting
    • Microsoft Office software including Xcel
    • Confident in the use of EMIS
