Lead Physiotherapist (U9‑16)
Location:
Sparrows Lane Training Ground, South East London.
Salary:
Dependent on experience.
Hours:
Permanent (35 hrs), Academy matchday and as directed by line manager.
Closing date: 26/02/2026.

Key Responsibilities Injury Management- Oversee the management of injuries of all foundation development phase and youth development phase players.
- Devise short‑term and long‑term rehabilitation plans, with stage‑appropriate outcome measures, based on evidence‑based clinical reasoning.
- Ensure effective communication of rehabilitation progress and availability to train with all stakeholders, including all relevant academy staff, players and parents.
- Accurate documentation of treatment notes on Kit Man Labs.
- Assist in rehabilitation of professional development phase squads when the lead physiotherapists are away.
- Present player rehabilitation plans and progress in weekly medical meetings with first‑team physiotherapist and club doctor.
- Design and implement individualised pre‑hab programmes alongside Sports Science and Strength & Conditioning team, to minimise injury risk of the players, based on injury history, objective screening data and subjective assessment.
- Deliver age‑group specific group pre‑hab sessions to address movement competency and common injuries.
- Assist in monitoring of professional development squads on match day +2.
- Maintain up‑to‑date pitch‑side qualification ITMMiF/ATMMiF.
- Provide medical cover for fixtures and tours within the foundation development phase and youth development phase. Opportunities to assist in U21 Premier League Cup and U18 FA Youth Cup match‑day cover.
- Organise rotas to ensure that all training sessions and fixtures across the whole Academy programme from U9s to U16s are covered appropriately.
- Update emergency action plan as required, perform weekly equipment checks in line with the club’s emergency action plan.
- Effective communication with external members of the multidisciplinary team, attend consultant appointments with players when appropriate.
- Liaise with Head of Academy Medicine and Academy Doctor regarding any external referrals.
- Assist in academy injury audit and bi‑annual reports.
- Oversee assessment of growth and maturation status monitoring.
- Deliver and assist in the organisation of internal CPD programmes.
- Take responsibility for own professional development and maintain up‑to‑date record of CPD.
- Attend department and club CPD events both internal and external.
- Engage reflectively with learning outcomes when taking part in the in‑house mentorship programme.
- BSc (or higher) degree in Physiotherapy (E).
- Registration with appropriate governing body (HCPC/CSP) (E).
- FA Level 5 First Aid or equivalent (ATMMiF) (E).
- UKSCA/CSCS (D).
- Experience working in elite football environment i.e. Academy or First Team (D).
