Paediatric Physiotherapist in Neurodisability

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our highly specialist service at Chailey Clinical Services. Working primarily with children and young people attending Chailey Heritage Foundation School and residences, you will provide expert physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice for those with complex neurodisability and multiple neurological conditions.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills within a nationally recognised centre, working as part of a large, supportive multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will work as an autonomous practitioner
, managing your own caseload and delivering individualised physiotherapy programmes. Your work will include:

  • Completing comprehensive assessments
    , diagnostic procedures and clinical reasoning for children and young people with complex needs
  • Developing and reviewing specialist treatment and postural management plans
    , including assessment and prescription of equipment
  • Providing highly specialised advice to families, colleagues and education/care staff
  • Taking responsibility for manual handling assessments and safe use of physiotherapy equipment
  • Working collaboratively with the wider MDT including teachers, nurses, medical staff, OTs, SLTs and social care teams
  • Participating in multidisciplinary and multi-agency clinics
    , including tertiary services
  • Communicating complex or sensitive information clearly and compassionately to families and professionals
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports and discharge summaries in line with Trust policy
  • Supporting service development, contributing to clinical governance and engaging in audit, research or evaluation projects

Although the post is primarily based within Chailey Heritage Foundation School
, you will have opportunities to gain experience in other parts of the service, including the Futures Young Adults Service
, Rehabilitation and Transition Service
, and Outpatient clinics
, with occasional home visits during school holidays.
