Patient Care Technician
Location: Greater London
A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in a GP practice supports the nursing and clinical team by providing direct, delegated patient care, such as phlebotomy, health checks (blood pressure, NHS Health Checks) and basic wound care. They work under the supervision of registered professionals to improve patient access, deliver health promotion, and ensure clinical rooms are prepared and stocked.

Working across multiple sites in a growing organisation with a view to longer term work and upskilling.
Job responsibilities- Clinical Measurements & Monitoring:
Taking blood samples (phlebotomy), monitoring blood pressure, and performing urine tests. - Health Checks & Screenings:
Performing new patient health checks, NHS Health Checks, and assisting with chronic disease reviews, such as for diabetes or heart disease. - Vaccinations & Injections:
Administering specific vaccinations (e.g., flu, pneumonia, B12) under patient group directions (PGD) and monitoring vaccine fridge temperatures. - Health Promotion:
Advising patients on lifestyle choices, including smoking cessation, weight management, and healthy eating.

- Qualified HCA (Care Certificate)
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
