We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Neurosciences Physiotherapy team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post includes rotations of 9 months in the following areas:
- Acute Neurosciences (including Acute Stroke Unit) (RFH)
- Outpatient Neuro Physiotherapy (RFH)
- Neuro REACT (Rehab and Complex Therapy) (RFH)
- Community Neurological Conditions Management Team (NRC, Edgware)
- Inpatient Neuro-rehabilitation (NRC, Edgware)
- Provide specialist assessment and treatment of acute and chronic neuro-disability patients.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- Participate in therapy in-service training and education programmes.
- Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide clear documentation of clinical activity.
Essential Criteria
- Degree, graduate diploma or equivalent in Physiotherapy.
- Registration as a physiotherapist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Certificated graduate courses or equivalent in-house training in clinical specialty areas.
- Good understanding of relevant clinical guidelines.
- Broad range of clinical experience at a Band 5 level or above.
- Experience of working in an acute, hospital-based setting, including within an MDT.
- Experience of working with patients with neurological conditions.
- Motivational Interviewing / Behaviour Change training (CBT or facilitation skills).
- Presentations to a range of groups.
- Teaching/training of staff or students.
- Supervision of more junior staff, assistants and/or students.
- Active participation in an audit or project work.
- Computer literate, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Evidence of continual professional development (CPD).
- Evidence of specialist clinical skills and core physiotherapy skills.
- Able to manage clinical caseload and prioritise effectively.
- Ability to work effectively within different teams – both multi and uni-disciplinary.
- Ability to manage own time & meeting deadlines.
- Ability to critically evaluate current research & apply to own practice.
- Ability to recognise unacceptable behaviour and act on this appropriately.
Desirable Criteria
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
- Membership of special interest group.
- Experience of weekend working and emergency on‑call working.
- UK professional registration with HCPC.
- Disclosures and Barring Service check (DBS).
- Completion of Stat and Management e‑learning modules prior to joining.
- Personal data may be transferred to another NHS organisation if employment transfers within the NHS.
- EU/EEA and sponsorship eligibility as per UKVI.
