Barts Health NHS Trust - Site Research Lead
1 PA Post - Permanent, Whipps Cross Hospital
We’re looking for a dynamic clinical leader to champion and embed research across Whipps Cross Hospital (WCH), ensuring every patient and service can benefit from research active care. As Site Research Lead, you’ll work closely with the WCH Medical Director, the Director of Clinical Research and the Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) to translate the Trust’s research strategy into practical delivery, tailored to our local population and services.
Whatyou’ll do
- Lead a thriving, inclusive research culture where research is a routine part of care.
- Identify growth opportunities, support study set up and remove barriers to delivery (including capability & capacity processes).
- Provide expert liaison with JRMO, clinical teams and external partners, ensuring governance standards are met.
- Represent WCH at the Joint Clinical Research Board and champion high quality, impactful research across specialties.
- Support major initiatives—including Life Sciences partnerships—and strengthen engagement with our community and the ICB.

Person specification Qualifications- Post Graduate Qualification, Membership of Royal College, or equivalent
- Track record of securing funding support for clinical research and in delivering the highest quality outputs and impacts
- A track record in delivering clinical research to high standards and regulatory requirements
- Publishing experience in peer review and professional journals
- Experience of delivering a Clinical Trial of an Investigational Medicinal Product (CTIMP) or similar
- Relevant experience in clinical research governance and management
- Knowledge of the NHS and University sectors as it pertains to the development and delivery of clinical research
- Knowledge of public and patient involvement in research
- Knowledge of the current regulatory framework for clinical research and of the organisations responsible for this in the UK
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Excellent negotiation skills and political awareness
- Ability to articulate arguments, and to respond constructively to debate and criticism
- Ability to work towards consensus when appropriate, and to maintain a management line where required
- Ability to motivate others
- Enthusiasm to meet the challenges of the role and motivation to succeed
- Awareness of commercial research and its opportunities, risks and benefits
