Job Summary

Advanced Cardiac Radiographer – Band 7 – Fixed Term Maternity Leave Cover. Due to service expansion Cardiac Imaging at Barts Heart and Thorax Centre (BHTC) are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Advanced Cardiac Cath Lab Radiographer to join a friendly, hard-working, ambitious and highly skilled team of Radiographers within the largest Cardiovascular Centre in Europe. The department boasts state‑of‑the‑art equipment with eleven Cardiac Catheter Labs, end‑vascular theatre, three dedicated Cardiac MRI scanners and a photon‑counting Cardiac CT scanner, and is expanding our services across the Trust.

Advanced Cardiac Cath Lab experience and knowledge is essential for the post. The role will cover complex coronary intervention, structural heart intervention, electrophysiology and pacing, as well as cases in the cardiothoracic theatre, with potential progression to Cardiac CT and Cardiac CMR. Responsibilities
  • Cover cases in complex coronary intervention, structural heart intervention, electrophysiology and pacing, and cardiothoracic theatre.
  • Potential progression to Cardiac CT and Cardiac CMR.
  • Lead and coordinate day‑to‑day running of the department.
  • Deputise for Modality Lead Radiographers and Operational Lead Radiographers in their absence.
  • Manage own workload and diary.
  • Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call rota and weekend waiting list initiatives as required.
  • Engage in research, publishing, and presenting at conferences.
Person Specification Essential Qualifications
  • BSc or Diploma in Radiography
  • HCPC State Registration
Desirable Qualifications
  • Post‑graduate specialist training equivalent to Master’s level
Essential Experience
  • Expert cardiac cath lab radiographic experience
  • Advanced knowledge in cardiac cath lab imaging/procedure
  • Experience working with junior staff and students
Desirable Experience
  • Innovation and role development in cardiac cath lab radiography
  • Experience in more than one hospital
  • Evidence of first‑line management experience
Essential Knowledge
  • Advanced professional development, training and education for cardiac cath lab radiography
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of cardiac cath lab imaging techniques
  • Ability to critically analyse cardiac radiography practice and develop training potential
