Job summary
A rare opportunity has arisen to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as Senior Lead Pharmacist – HIV & Sexual Health, following the retirement of the long‑standing post holder. This is an exciting opportunity to build on an established and highly respected service legacy, whilst shaping the future direction of HIV and Sexual Health pharmacy services across the Trust.
As Senior Lead Pharmacist, you will lead and influence ongoing service development, working closely with leading national and world‑renowned clinicians locally, as well as clinical partners across North West London. You will act as a recognised expert within the specialty, playing a pivotal role in advancing medicines optimisation, clinical governance and patient‑centred care across complex and evolving care pathways. The role includes responsibility for supporting the training, growth and development of the established HIV & Sexual Health pharmacy team, as well as working collaboratively with third‑party outpatient pharmacy colleagues.
This post is ideally suited to a forward‑thinking senior pharmacist who welcomes the potential for pharmacy services to evolve and who is passionate about delivering high quality HIV & Sexual Health care.
Main duties of the job- Lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services in the Sexual Health and HIV speciality (incorporating services for Human T‑cell lymphotropic virus (HTLV), HIV post‑exposure prophylaxis (HIV PEP), HIV pre‑exposure prophylaxis (HIV PreP), contraception and clinics for administration of long‑acting antiretrovirals).
- Act as a role model as a senior pharmacy leader, managing, developing and training staff working within the team and speciality.
- Provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters, undertaking risk management and ensuring compliance with medicines legislation.
- Safely use, store, supply and provide medicines used for the speciality.
- Facilitate and support the efficient and cost‑effective use of medicines with a particular emphasis on high‑cost drugs.
- Work closely with people who use our services, families, friends and carers to contribute positively to how people experience our services.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications – Essential- Masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent
- Member of the GPhC
- Certificate in Pharmacy Practice
- Diploma in clinical pharmacy practice
- Appropriate short management courses
- Independent / supplementary prescriber
- Masters in clinical pharmacy practice
- Significant post‑registration training and experience in hospital pharmacy including experience in HIV and Sexual Health
