The HIV, Sexual Health and Gender Health and Dermatology directorate and Pharmacy department services are continually evolving to include increasing development of clinical pharmacy services and the continuing growth of sub-specialities such as hepatitis co‑infection.
This post will be part of a specialist pharmacy team consisting of six band 7 pharmacists, one rotational band 6 pharmacist and four band 8 pharmacists. The successful applicant will rotate across different sites to provide:
- A ward pharmacy service to the dedicated HIV ward and day care unit including ward round attendance and Gender Affimation Surgery service
- Clinical and dispensary pharmacy services to the HIV clinic at 10 Hammersmith Broadway
- Clinical pharmacy services to the Dean Street Clinic
- Clinical pharmacy services to the Kobler Clinic including clinical trials and training band 6 resident pharmacists
- Clinical pharmacy services to the West Middlesex Hospital HIV clinic
- Enhanced clinical pharmacy service to the Trans Plus Service at Dean Street
To provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to patients within the HIV/GUM Directorate across the clinical sites in accordance with objectives set by senior directorate pharmacists in HIV/GUM. The post holder will rotate through the following sites:
- Trans Plus Service at Dean Street
- Inpatient and day care and Gender Affirmation Surgery Service at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital
- 56 Dean Street Clinic
- 10 Hammersmith Broadway clinic
- West Middlesex Hospital HIV clinic
To ensure the safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines within the speciality and to support and supervise less experienced pharmacists on rotation.
The post-holder will be involved in providing clinical oversight to the various outsourced dispensaries and to the clinics, including some early morning and evening sessions. The post-holder will also clinically support the senior directorate pharmacists in a variety of projects including directorate work, audit and research. Further training and development is encouraged.

- Clinical Practice
- Be responsible and accountable for the day to day clinical pharmacy service provided within the HIV/GUM Directorate, as directed by the Lead Directorate Pharmacist HIV/GUM.
- Review prescriptions for accuracy and legality and identify actual or potential problems.
