Job overview
Band 7 Senior Specialist Head and Neck Dietitian – 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours per week). Fixed term for 9 months from 11.05.26. Based at University College London (UCH), part of UCLH NHS Foundation Trust.
Key responsibilities- Provide specialist dietetic care to head and neck patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Manage patient care pathways from referral through treatment, rehabilitation and long‑term care.
- Lead the enteral feeding tube service and support extended scope practice.
- Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating clear communication and negotiation skills.
- Participate in student training initiatives and contribute to professional development of junior staff.
- Maintain high standards of quality, efficiency and productivity within the department.
- Four‑year degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent.
- HCPC registered.
- Comprehensive post‑registration clinical experience in dietetics.
- Clinical experience in the specialist area of head and neck oncology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork and confidentiality.
- Experience of training student dietitians or other HCPs.
- Knowledge and adherence to Trust policies on infection prevention and control.
- Confidence in managing patient care pathways and service improvement projects.
- Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) or equivalent association.
- Post‑registration training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
- Post‑graduate study in a specialist area of dietetics (e.g., PENG course, paediatric/renal modules).
- Involvement in relevant specialist interest groups.
- Teaching on degree or professional courses.
- Experience in project management and research/ audit.
- Anthropometry skills and computer literacy.
- Understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and NHS obligations under the Equality Act 2010.
- UK professional registration held.
- Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service required (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974).
