I'm working with a public sector organisation seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to support their property assets and compliance functions. This role will focus on ensuring full statutory compliance across housing and workplace environments, managing key safety frameworks, and delivering clear, robust health & safety assurance.
This position suits someone with strong experience in housing‑related health & safety, regulatory compliance, and safety governance, who is confident operating in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.
Role Responsibilities- Provide expert advice on all strategic and operational health & safety matters across property and housing services.
- Lead on drafting and reviewing RAMS, ensuring safe systems of work are embedded across all operational teams.
- Oversee CDM compliance for construction, maintenance and refurbishment projects.
- Produce accurate compliance data, performance reports and assurance documentation for internal and external audits.
- Maintain and develop the compliance assurance framework and related digital systems.
- Carry out site inspections, mini‑audits and safety reviews, issuing clear recommendations.
- Support the onboarding, assessment and monitoring of contractors from a health & safety perspective.
- Work with residents, internal partners and external stakeholders to support building safety engagement.
- Deliver and support training, inductions and engagement sessions to staff and contractors.
- Contribute to policy development, continuous improvement and transformation initiatives.
- Strong background in health & safety within housing, property services or similar regulated sectors.
- Solid understanding of fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene, electrical safety, gas safety, CDM Regulations and wider statutory compliance.
- Experience producing clear, data‑driven reports and technical safety documentation.
- Ability to carry out safety inspections, audits and compliance reviews confidently and independently.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information in plain English to a wide range of stakeholders.
- NEBOSH General Certificate required, with additional fire safety and CDM training desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
