Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and committed Audiologist to work in our friendly team for one year to cover maternity leave. You will be working at our Audiology site at Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone. The department provides comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology services to an extensive population covering Waltham Forest and Redbridge London boroughs.
This position will be based in the adult audiology department and the suitable candidate will have to have at least 1 year's experience working as a band 5 Audiologist.
Qualifications required: BSc in Audiology (or equivalent).
Main duties of the job- Provide independent diagnostic audiological testing of adults and children, responsible for safe use and calibration of equipment, and ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Provide a comprehensive independent hearing aid service to adults and children, determining care plans for individual patients and involving carers and families as appropriate.
- Take an active role in clinical audit, research and governance, including designing and completing audits, collecting data for larger projects, and contributing to evidence‑based protocols.
- Plan and prioritise own workload within the service delivery priorities defined by the line manager and supervise trainees, students and volunteers as required.
- Be responsible for the smooth running of a specified area of the audiology service.

Person SpecificationEssential
Qualifications:
- BSc in Audiology or BTEC qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement plus successful completion of both parts of the professional examination, BAAT I and II.
- MSc in Audiological Science with the Certificate of Clinical Competence (or equivalent).
- Registered or eligible for voluntary registration with AHCS/HCPC.
Desirable
Qualifications:
- Membership of BAA and/or BSA.
Essential
Experience:
- Experience as a band 5 Audiologist.
- Experience working within the NHS.
Desirable
Experience:
- A small area of responsibility within audiology and/or general administration.
Essential Knowledge:
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
- Deaf awareness.
Desirable Knowledge:
- British Sign Language proficiency.
