Position: Lead Pharmacist for Hepatology
Location: Greater London

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) is seeking an experienced and motivated pharmacist to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight of the clinical pharmacy service to Hepatology
, including support to the Trust’s viral hepatitis pathways.

The post-holder will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a high-quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to hepatology services, working closely with consultants, MDTs and the wider pharmacy team to ensure safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines. This includes supporting antiviral treatment pathways, medicines optimisation initiatives and service improvement activity.

The role includes professional leadership and supervision of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians supporting hepatology services, alongside a continued clinical commitment. The post-holder will contribute to audit, reporting and engagement with regional networks, supporting delivery of Trust and system priorities within a defined governance framework.

Responsibilities
  • To lead the delivery of a safe, effective and patient-centred clinical pharmacy service to Hepatology.
  • To provide clinical expertise and medicines optimisation support to hepatology MDTs, including antiviral therapies and complex medicines.
  • To support monitoring, follow-up and continuity of care for patients within hepatology and viral hepatitis pathways.
  • To provide professional leadership, supervision and development of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians within the hepatology service.
  • To contribute to service improvement, audit and reporting activity in line with Trust and regional requirements.
  • To support cost-effective use of medicines, including contribution to biosimilar switching and high-cost drug optimisation where appropriate.
  • To maintain a clinical presence and act as a senior clinical role model within the pharmacy team.
