Job Summary
The Royal Marsden Hospital is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe with an international reputation for high quality patient care, research and education. This administrative role will give you the opportunity to work in a vibrant and busy radiotherapy department within a team that are compassionate and dedicated to delivering high quality patient care in everything they do.
The post-holder will be primarily responsible for booking and manipulating complex radiotherapy pathways to tailor treatment requirements to the individual patient. They will also be key in communicating this complex information to patients along with preparation instructions for the radiotherapy planning process. This role sits within a dedicated team at the London site but you may be asked to co‑ordinate the flow for both sites of the radiotherapy department.
We are looking for an efficient, organised person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will also be IT literate with an interest in healthcare. We are looking for individuals to demonstrate in their application and at interview an understanding of what working in a healthcare environment requires.

- Manage patient appointments, from document interpretation to making a radiotherapy booking, without the patient present.
- Interpret treatment requirements for individual patients and coordinate the radiotherapy pathway appropriately in line with departmental protocols.
- Communicate all information in relation to the patient pathway as requested to patients.
- Demonstrate empathetic skills when communicating with patients.
- Provide general assistance to contribute to the smooth running of the department and to carry out other duties as may be required in collaboration with line management.
Essential Attainments
- General education to GCSE inclusive of English & Mathematics – Grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Previous experience of organising and planning workflow.
- Previous experience in dealing directly with patients / clients.
- Experience working in a time‑pressed environment and proven ability to manage competing demands.
- Computer literate.
- Be able to comply with confidentiality requirements.
- Able to plan and prioritise work.
- Able to use initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Effective communicator across the multidisciplinary team using both written and spoken English.
