Job summary

Are you passionate about providing dental care to those who need it most? Join our team at the Community Dental Service and make a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness. We’re looking for a dedicated individual to work alongside the Homeless Dental Service team, offering support, advice, and care to vulnerable communities within the Soho Health Centre.

As a key member of the Homeless Dental Service team, you will be working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness to ensure they receive essential dental care and guidance. You will be part of a collaborative effort to improve health outcomes for people facing significant challenges, with the opportunity to have a direct impact on their well‑being.

Main duties of the job
  • Clinical Sessions & Outreach
    :
    Provide dental care at the Soho Centre for Health and Wellbeing and assist in screening in hostels and drop‑in centres to connect individuals with the services they need.
  • Support & Advice
    :
    Work alongside a variety of professionals to improve the dental care and support offered to homeless communities. Advise senior management on strategies to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaboration
    :
    Partner with health promoters and other support teams to target and engage with the most in‑need groups, ensuring seamless, coordinated care.
  • Safeguarding & Support
    :
    Assess the dental needs of diverse homeless groups, including rough sleepers, women’s refuges, and young people, while identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns.
  • Promote Well‑being
    :
    Work with clients to support their overall health, including addressing substance misuse, smoking cessation, and other lifestyle habits that impact their dental health.
  • Service Management
    :
    Help organise the service timetable, manage emergency and scheduled appointments, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
