Lived Experience Consultant - The Lighthouse

Supporting children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Lived Experience Consultant to join the Lighthouse, a highly specialist service for children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse. We are seeking a practitioner with lived experience and a strong background in psychological or therapeutic services, who can meaningfully contribute to our multidisciplinary team.

In this role, you will bring unique insight into the needs of children, young people and parents, working alongside clinicians to ensure our service remains responsive, compassionate and expert‑led.

Working from a basis of personal lived experience, the post holder will contribute to community‑based and trauma‑informed care for children and adolescents through their contributions to multi‑disciplinary assessments of need, supporting engagement and interventions including group‑based interventions, as well as consultation and support to young people’s caring networks.

Main duties of the job

In addition to supporting direct work, which may include joint individual, small group and parent work, the post holder will be available to consult to wider professional networks about children and young people and be available to staff for consultation. This post will also contribute to the wider service with co‑production and service user participation projects, including parent and young people’s forums, and serve an advisory function to the Lighthouse to support the development of pathways that are child‑centred and informed by lived experience.

The post holder will also participate in audit and contribute to policy and service development and research within the area served by Lighthouse and related services, nationally and internationally. They will be responsible for joint working, group working and supporting casework via contributing a lived experience perspective to engagement and interventions. The post holder will ensure that the Lighthouse assessment and intervention pathways and user engagement are informed by lived experience perspectives;

embed service user participation initiatives; continue to offer and develop the parent course programme; increase reach and impact of the service through awareness and capacity building with wider professionals locally and internationally e.g. through key contributions to visits, conferences and trainings.
