Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and visionary Obstetric Clinical Lead to guide the successful implementation of our new maternity information system, Badger Net. This is an exciting opportunity for a GMC-registered Obstetric Consultant with a passion for digital transformation, maternity safety, and delivering exceptional outcomes for women, babies and families.

Working as part of the Central Maternity Team, you will provide expert clinical leadership, ensuring the system is safe, user‑centred and aligned with national maternity standards. You will work closely with midwifery leaders, digital teams, neonatal colleagues, and external partners across North East London to shape workflows, support system design, and optimise clinical pathways.

Your leadership will be critical in supporting staff through change, overseeing testing and training, and ensuring the new system enhances continuity of care, documentation quality, safeguarding, personalised care planning, and data capture. You will act as a clinical champion during rollout and early optimisation, helping colleagues embed new ways of working.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will participate in and support the co‑ordination and full implementation of Badger Net within maternity services and wider as appropriate.

The postholder will participate and support Badger Net with a focus mainly around its rollout. This will not conform to the full project lifecycle in that it will mainly focus on changing the work practices of staff.

Staff support and training is an integral part of the role. Liaise with practice education staff to develop suitable training materials and training plans to support implementation, to agreed targets and deadlines.

The post holder will be expected to support the maternity workforce to deliver quality care to women and families through the effective use of a maternity IT system. Working alongside key personnel the post holder will be responsible for the identification of work processes that support the implementation of Badger Net

Person Specification Experience
  • Demonstrated interest in digital transformation, quality improvement, or clinical systems.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship‑building skills
  • Previous involvement in EPR or clinical system implementation.
  • Supporting the development of training materials and teaching and facilitating
  • Good evidence of leadership through change and enthusiasm for quality improvement
  • Participation in testing cycles, including user acceptance testing and scenario‑based validation.
Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of maternity pathways, clinical risk, and multidisciplinary working.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve clinical workflows and reduce unwarranted variation. QI expertise
Qualifications
  • GMC-registered doctor holding a current Obstetric Consultant role in maternity services.
Other
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively in a part‑time leadership role.
