An exciting opportunity has arisen within Barts Health NHS Trust to join our team as a NEL Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) Clinical Educator.

This role will play a central part in strengthening and developing the commercial research workforce across Barts Health, Homerton Healthcare, and Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals. As part of the NEL CRDC Workforce Development function, you will support the growth of high-quality, inclusive research delivery across North East London

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Educator, you will lead on the design, delivery and evaluation of research education and clinical skills training for NEL CRDC research teams and partner organisations. You will work closely with clinical staff across multiple specialties, providing expert supervision, mentorship and assessment of competence. The role also offers the opportunity to maintain clinical practice and, where required, support the delivery of commercial research studies across the region.

You will act as a subject matter expert for research education, ensuring staff are trained and competent in line with statutory, mandatory and sponsor requirements. You will also contribute to service improvement, support induction programmes, and collaborate with regional and national partners to promote a consistent, high-quality learning culture across the CRDC network.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse or AHP with extensive experience in clinical research delivery, strong teaching and facilitation skills, and a passion for developing others. Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple organisations.

When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS (High-Cost Area Supplement) is not included for non-medical roles. This ensures fairness and consistency within our organization, as some of our sites fall under inner HCAS, while others are classified as outer HCAS.

Person Specification Education and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse or AHP on relevant part of the professional register (NMC HCPC)
  • Evidence of on-going professional development (both in terms of meeting the CPD requirements of the relevant professional body and in respect of leading education interventions).
  • Postgraduate qualification (eg. Post Graduate Diploma) in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Recognised teaching qualification
Knowledge and Experience
  • Extensive experience of clinical research delivery (with delegated duties and/or Principal Investigator roles) on a wide variety of studies including CTIMP interventional/observational and commercial/non-commercial.
  • Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating effective learning interventions
  • Expert knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), research governance and related regulations
  • Experience of teaching and mentorship
