Overview

The Barking and Dagenham Speech and Language Therapy team in North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) has approved a Business Case. This is an exciting opportunity to grow the team and provide an innovative and effective service to children, young people and families. We are seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to lead our Complex Needs and Dysphagia Pathway.

The role will entail a Complex Needs and Dysphagia split depending on service demands. You will join a supportive team environment and be provided with robust professional development opportunities.

• Co-Lead on the provision of Complex Needs and Dysphagia services for community paediatrics in Barking and Dagenham. The role is a Dysphagia and Complex Needs split depending on service demand and need.
• Work closely with clients, carers, families and professionals to raise awareness, knowledge and skills related to strategies that improve feeding outcomes across settings.
• Be able to further develop your interests and skills in an area/areas of interest and expertise.
• Contribute to both speech and language therapy and multidisciplinary team working to ensure coordinated service provision.
• Lead a small team of therapists and assistants working in your Pathway.
• Provide supervision of colleagues and peer support.
• Deliver comprehensive formal and informal assessment and make differential diagnoses on the basis of assessment findings.
• Develop evidence-based intervention programmes, adapt and facilitate therapy according to client-centred needs.
• Provide highly specialist knowledge, advice, training and teaching to parents/carers, education staff, multidisciplinary team members and other colleagues.
• Be involved in the Service Development of the SALT team.

Starting with NELFT:
New starters are welcomed and inducted; induction includes mandatory training, systems training and equipment allocation. Induction is up to two weeks and held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital, Ilford IG3 8XJ
, with opportunities to meet the executive team and attend drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

Probationary Period:
This post is subject to a probationary period.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London:
This post attracts payment of 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,714; maximum £5,941 per annum, pro rata for part-time).
