Overview
We are looking for a highly creative and experienced psychologist to join the Psychiatric Liaison Service (PLS) leadership team and contribute to the team's work across the general hospital wards as well as the clients who present in acute crisis at A&E. PLS highly values psychological formulation and brief interventions to support their complex cases, as well as support their team's wellbeing through working closely with the other leads in the team.
The post holder will contribute a psychological perspective to multidisciplinary service development and delivery within the general acute hospital and A&E settings. This will include reviewing pathways to meet the needs of our service users, enabling the team to meet the standards for a Core 24 service. You will be part of the PLS Leadership team.
Responsibilities- Contribute a psychological perspective to multidisciplinary service development and delivery within the general acute hospital and A&E settings, including reviewing pathways to meet the needs of service users and enabling the team to meet Core 24 standards. - Carry out clinical work focused on complex health presentations from the general acute hospital and service users with severe mental health difficulties presenting in crisis to A&E. Include work with eating disorders, FND, MUS, depression and anxiety, and those with long hospital stays and multiple health issues.
- Develop joint work with health disciplines across the hospital and devise training programmes for the general wards.
- On the A&E side, provide a follow-up psychology clinic for individuals who have presented with an attempt on their life to provide brief psychological support to stabilise and prevent future suicide.
- Join regular countywide Psychology Clinical Governance and peer-led CPD meetings.
