This post leads the organisation's Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity planning and response on behalf of the site Hospital Leadership Teams, to ensure the Trust discharges its responsibility in relation to the CCA 2004, and guidance from NHSE. The post holder will also ensure alignment with the NHS Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) Framework (v3), relevant statutory duties (including the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, NHS Act 2006 and Health and Care Act 2022), and the NHS Standard Contract.
Ensuringthe Trust:
- Prepare, train and exercise Incident Response and Business Continuity Plans
- Reviews and updates the EPRR suite of Plans, Policies and SOPS to reflect changes of personnel, accommodation and practice
- Complies with statutory obligations, and NHSE guidance incorporated in NHS EPRR Core Standards
- Responds as appropriate to NHSE initiatives and consultations
- Discharges its responsibilities in relation to the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and subsequent NHS guidance
- Development and delivery of the Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response Annual Work Programme, the Training and Exercising Programme and the Business Continuity Management Policy Feb 2026 FINAL
- Supports the Trust Accountable Emergency Officer (AEO) by providing specialist advice, coordinating EPRR assurance, maintaining an evidence base against the Core Standards, and reporting compliance, risks and actions to Trust governance and the Board.
- Ensures the Trust works effectively within the local health system, including the ICB, NHSE and MRF, contributing to multi-agency planning, mutual aid, information sharing and coordinated response and recovery.
