We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic

Clinical Research Practitioner who will be able tosupport a range of research active clinical teams within the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Note:

this rolewillcover Tuesday to Saturday, from 08:00 (or 8:30) on week days and 09:30 on Saturdays, for 37.5 hours per week.

RADSS brings together Tissue Access for Patient Benefit (TAPB), the Trust’s Research Tissue Bank (the RFL Biobank, which holds an HTA licence and operates under generic research ethics approval), and a laboratory that processes samples. Together we help patients donate human biological samples and give academic and commercial researchers access to consented samples and linked, anonymised clinical data. Our collections are registered on the UKCRC Tissue Directory, making them discoverable to researchers globally.

In this role you will be the vital link between patients, clinical teams and researchers. You will recruit and support patients, take consent, collect and document high quality samples and data, and help deliver high impact research across the UK and globally. You will be based in Hampstead and work across the Royal Free London group, including Barnet, Chase Farm and North Middlesex University Hospital.

We are looking for someone organised, personable and meticulous, who is confident talking to patients, comfortable in both clinical and laboratory settings, and motivated to see research make a difference.

As a Clinical Research Practitioner you will support the research pathway for patients in non-interventional trials, the sample component of interventional trials, and research using human biological samples. Day to day that means recruiting, informing and monitoring participants, and collecting and documenting samples and data accurately. You will work closely with research and clinical trials teams and the wider multidisciplinary team, in particular surgical theatre and pathology, supporting a senior clinical research fellow.

We are looking for someone who can bring:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain complex information clearly to patients and act as their advocate.
  • Proven effectiveness in a multidisciplinary team, able to prioritise a varied workload, use your own initiative and stay accurate under pressure.
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment, ideally with clinical research experience and knowledge of ICH GCP.
  • Experience of teaching or informal training, whether briefing a colleague, inducting a new starter or supporting a student.
  • Sound computer literacy and a commitment to audit, quality and continuing professional development.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for clinical research and for improving outcomes for patients.

A background in life sciences or nursing is an advantage. Willingness to work flexibly and to travel across our sites matters, as the role spans several hospitals in the group.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts. Across three main hospitals, our dedicated army of staff care for over 1.6million patients, treat more than 200,000 in A&E, deliver over 8,000 babies and carry out more than 17million tests.

Our size, scale and influence offer you unrivalled career opportunities and a forward-thinking approach to working that works around your lifestyle. From flexible hours and generous benefits, to next level training, we make it easier to take your career to the top.
