This post is advertised at Grade 8; however, there may be an opportunity to appoint at a lower grade on an underfill basis for candidates who demonstrate strong potential but do not yet fully meet the Grade 8 selection criteria.

The Oxford Labour Monitoring (OLM) group at the Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health are seeking an experienced Fetal Monitoring Programme Manager to provide leadership and project management expertise for Fit4

Labour, an NIHR-funded multidisciplinary programme with the potential to transform the monitoring and care of women and babies during labour. This is a varied and influential role, suited to someone with significant experience managing complex healthcare or medical research projects across multiple NHS sites. You will coordinate the delivery of the programme's work packages, oversee day-to-day programme delivery, support three participating NHS hospital sites in England, and ensure the study is conducted in line with regulatory, ethical and governance requirements.

Working closely with the Chief Investigator and a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers and clinicians, as well as funders, sponsors and participating hospital sites, you will help ensure milestones and agreed targets are met, risks and study-related issues are managed, and appropriate systems and procedures are in place. You will also contribute to regulatory, ethics, MHRA and HRA submissions, site set-up and training, budget monitoring, reporting, SOP development and stakeholder liaison.

The successful candidate will bring proven administrative and project management skills, ideally gained through healthcare projects across multiple NHS sites, together with excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. You will have a strong working knowledge of research governance, ethics and regulatory approval requirements and relevant data protection legislation. Highly organised and attentive to detail, you will be confident problem-solving, managing competing priorities and working both independently and as part of a busy multidisciplinary team.

Experience of research governance and management within the NHS, including working with the MHRA in relation to medical device research and development, particularly software as a medical device, would be advantageous. An interest in maternity or perinatal health and experience of managing applications through IRAS would also be desirable. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of an innovative programme seeking to enable the routine use of Fit4

Labour, a new data-driven software technology designed to support rapid and reliable triage at the onset of labour and help midwives and doctors prevent serious adverse outcomes for babies during labour. Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.
