Undertake psychological assessments of students applying to the Counselling and Mental Health Support Service, in order to ascertain the nature of their presenting problems and how best to meet their needs.
Assess the suitability of the students access to the Counselling Service which provides a short term, five session, solution focused service model.
Where applicable, identify the need to refer students who are not suitable for short term therapy in the Counselling Service to external support, for example: crisis mental health services, GP, NHS specialist services, other community services external to King?s.
Familiarise oneself to the internal Student Support Services across King?s which may be more suitable or in co-ordination with Counselling support, which might benefit the student. This includes, Support for Study processes within Faculties, Faculty Wellbeing Advisors, Disability & Inclusion Services, Money and Housing support.
Triage student self-referrals as suitable for an assessment with the Counselling Service or not. Support students to access external referral pathways when deemed more appropriate.
Allocate assessments and ongoing counselling support across the Counselling and Mental Health Support Service.
