We’re looking for a Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics to join our Theatre team at The Portland Hospital. As the only private hospital in the UK dedicated entirely to the healthcare of women and children, The Portland Hospital offers a unique and highly specialised environment where colleagues can build expertise across paediatric, maternity and women's health services. With more than 46 paediatric beds, a dedicated paediatric intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care services and over 175 paediatric consultants, you’ll be part of a hospital that delivers exceptional care to more than 40,000 children each year while also supporting one of the UK’s leading private maternity services.

As a Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics, you’ll join a highly skilled multidisciplinary theatre team working across a wide range of surgical specialities including paediatric surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, and general surgery. Our five fully integrated theatres provide access to advanced technology and equipment, giving you the opportunity to develop your clinical expertise in a busy and rewarding environment. This role is particularly well suited to someone looking to further develop your anaesthetic skills within paediatrics, supported by experienced colleagues who are committed to learning, collaboration and high standards of patient care.

What

You’ll Do
  • Prepare, check and maintain anaesthetic equipment to ensure safe and effective use
  • Support anaesthetists during a wide range of paediatric, maternity and general surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients throughout anaesthesia, maintaining the highest standards of safety and care
  • Deliver compassionate care throughout the perioperative journey, ensuring patient comfort and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with the wider theatre team across multiple specialities to support excellent clinical outcomes
What You’ll Bring
  • Current HCPC registration as an Operating Department Practitioner or NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Extensive post-registration experience within anaesthetic theatres
  • Recognised anaesthetics qualification or anaesthetic course
  • Experience preparing and managing anaesthetic rooms and equipment safely and effectively
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care within a multidisciplinary theatre environment
