encompasses the two main entities in the UK, The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL). About the role:An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Senior Biomedical Scientist within the Cervical Screening London Department.
CSL provides Primary HPV testing and Cervical cytology screening service to General Practices, NHS Hospitals, Colposcopy Units in the London region and Private clients. The successful candidate should have extensive experience in Cervical cytology screening and reporting of cervical Cytology. The candidate will be responsible for working in accordance with the NHSCSP protocols and adhere to ISO
15189 requirements, ensuring safe and compliant service to the clients.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated and an effective team player, with strong organisational and communication skills. They must have the ability to understand and meet target deadlines and committed to the organisation's core values.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Perform cervical cytology screening and reporting in line with national screening programme standards.
- Identify and refer abnormal cervical cytology findings accurately and within agreed turnaround times.
- To authorise HPV results as required.
- Support quality assurance, quality control and UKAS accreditation requirements.
- Supervise, train and mentor biomedical scientists, trainees and support staff.
- Assist with workload management and day-to-day laboratory operations.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, health and safety regulations and governance requirements.
- Participate in audits, Incident reporting, service improvement projects and verification of new equipment and procedures.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and use laboratory information systems effectively.
- Provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, service users and technical support to colleagues.
- Contribute to the continuous development and delivery of a high-quality cervical screening service.
- NHSCSP Diploma in Cervical Screening Cytology.
- Registration with HCPC as Biomedical Scientist.
- MSc in appropriate discipline such as Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification e.g. IBMS HSD
- Participation in a relevant CPD Scheme e.g. IBMS
- Experience in Screening Primary HPV Positive.
- At least 5 years' post qualification experience in cervical cytology screening.
