The Role
Reporting to the Head of Medical Affairs UK, the Associate Director, Medical Affairs Strategy will be a key scientific and strategic leader responsible for developing and delivering UK Medical Affairs strategies and tactical plans for assigned oncology assets.
The role will have a particular focus on launch readiness, evidence generation and lifecycle management. Working across UK, European and global teams, the Associate Director will translate scientific data, stakeholder insights, patient needs and business priorities into clear medical strategies and impactful activities.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver UK Medical Affairs strategic and tactical plans in collaboration with the UK Head of Medical Affairs and cross-functional partners
Act as the subject matter expert within UK and global cross-functional teams, clinical development teams and therapy-area-aligned projects
Lead insight generation activities to inform UK medical strategy, medical priorities and integrated evidence planning
Drive Medical Affairs launch excellence, supporting pre-launch, peri-launch and post-launch medical activities for assigned asset(s)
Partner with Marketing and Commercial colleagues on brand strategy planning, ensuring scientific and medical priorities are appropriately represented
Partner with MSL/Field Leads to support execution of local Medical Affairs strategies and customer engagement plans
Work with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial and Market Access to shape product strategy, launch planning and lifecycle management
Serve as the medical expert for market access activities, including scientific input into reimbursement, policy and payer-related materials
Oversee local data generation strategy, including evidence planning aligned to UK medical priorities
Review materials for alignment with global and local strategy, scientific accuracy and compliance requirements
Engage UK Thought Leaders, healthcare professionals and patient advocacy groups to understand customer needs and develop local evidence plans that support medical priorities
Ensure all activities are ethical, compliant and delivered in accordance with applicable UK regulatory, governance and compliance requirements
Advanced degree preferred (PharmD, PhD or MD); oncology experience strongly preferred
5+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development or a related function
Previous Medical Affairs launch experience, ideally within oncology or specialty medicine
Strong ability to interpret clinical and scientific data and translate insights into strategy and practical action
Proven ability to operate compliantly within the UK healthcare environment and applicable industry codes
Strong familiarity with the UK healthcare system, including the payer landscape across all devolved nations
