About The Role

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Rehabilitation Officer(Deafblind Specialist) to join our Adult Social Care team in Islington. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with residents, supporting them to develop practical skills, overcome barriers, and maximise their independence both at home and within their local community.

In this role, you will work with adults who have sensory impairments, carrying out specialist assessments and delivering tailored rehabilitation programmes. You will support people to develop confidence in daily living activities, mobility, communication, and access to their environment. Working closely with colleagues across health, social care, housing, and voluntary sector organisations, you will help ensure residents receive coordinated support that enables them to live fulfilling lives.

We are keen to hear from applicants who can demonstrate:

  • A recognised qualification relevant to Rehabilitation Work and/or Sensory Impairment Services.
  • Experience of working with adults with sensory impairments and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice within Adult Social Care.
  • Strong assessment, problem-solving, and person-centred planning skills.
  • The ability to promote independence through rehabilitation and strengths-based approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, carers, and professionals.
  • Experience of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams and partnership environments.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.

You will be joining a passionate and supportive team committed to improving outcomes for adults with sensory impairments across Islington. Working alongside social workers, occupational therapists, rehabilitation professionals, and health partners, you will play a key role in helping residents remain independent, connected, and in control of their lives.
