• Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English (English Language or English Literature) GCSE A-C/4-9 or Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE ()
• Care Certificate (if you don't hold this certificate, you would be expected to complete this during your first 6 months of employment)
• Level 3 vocational qualification or short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3.
  
  - Theoretical knowledge
  - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation
• Completion (at the point of start date or within the probationary period) of the WASP competencies and Trust face to face training session related to insulin administration, and/or oral medication administration, following the Trust approved standard operating procedure and policy.

• Experience of working in health or social care.
• Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.

• Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation.
• Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics.
• Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
• Knowledge of Safeguarding.
• Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality
• Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective teamwork.
• Attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision.

It is the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost of their DBS. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay.

For any new employees commencing employment with South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will be subject to satisfactory completion of a 6 month probationary period. Please note that internal applications and individuals that are appointed to fixed term appointments of less than 6 months duration are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or a bank member of staff).
