Band 7 Specialist Physiotherapist - Stroke and Neurology

An exciting opportunity to join the unique Waltham Forest Integrated Stroke Pathway (WISP) (part of Barts Health Hub and Spoke service).This innovative pathway was set up in 2020 integrating stroke rehabilitation across the in-patient Stroke Unit team and the Community Stroke Team. It provides seamless, goal-driven rehabilitation from the same stroke specialist personnel along the patient journey from hospital to home- without any time or session bound end points or disruptive hand-offs.,

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical abilities, neurological conditions, and rehabilitation needs.
• Develop tailored treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based techniques and therapeutic interventions.
• Deliver individual and group therapy sessions to enhance patients' mobility, coordination, strength, and overall function both on the Stroke Recovery Unit and within the patient's own residence.

Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Nurses, and Clinical Psychologists and to delegate specific tasks to non-registrant support staff to provide goal-orientated holistic care.

• Monitor and evaluate patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families, empowering them to actively participate in the rehabilitation process.
• Contribute to the development of departmental policies, protocols, and research initiatives.

This is the perfect post for a Physiotherapist who has experience of stroke, enjoys working across the rehab pathway and is able to support qualified and no-registrant staff. The team that you will be joining is vibrant, promoting self-management and multi-disciplinary working. You will have opportunity to develop your assessment and treatment skills, lead a small team and participate in service improvement initiatives.

This post would be suitable for an experienced Band 6 who would like to move into their first Band 7 role or an established Band 7 with a passion for stroke services and is part of a Band 7, 18 month, neuro-science rotation.
