ABOUT

THE ROLE

I am a lady in my 80’s who has a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, Type 2 diabetes and am non-verbal. I live in my home with my husband and my daughter lives nearby, and I have a fantastic current team of personal assistants who have worked with me for many years who understands my needs and wishes. My condition means that I require support with all aspects of my daily living and suitable candidates will need to be able to support me with various tasks throughout the day, these include but are not limited to personal care, continence care, administering of medication, basic household tasks and nutrition and hydration.

I require 24- hour support to have my needs met. I do not know when I need to eat or drink so will need assistance with this, I will need support with continence care and due to loss in mobility I cannot support my personal assistants with changing me, therefore experience with moving and handing would be beneficial. I need support to maintain my skin integrity, being observant is a key skill which I require all my personal assistants to have.

I will need someone who will take care of my care needs in a professional manner alongside being open, friendly, offer reassurance and willing to build a relationship with me to encompass delivering person centred care.

ABOUT YOU

I am looking for someone who understands my medical problems and can also provide emotional support. I am a quiet person who would like someone to offer companionship whilst they look after my day to day and medical tasks. I enjoy watching TV, and interacting with me on all aspects of social life is important. You will need to be enthusiastic and inspiring to bring a sense of energy into my life.

You must also be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity and respect my home.

I would like someone who possesses a good standard of English, someone who takes initiative and someone who’s willing to go the extra mile.

Candidates must have experience working in a caring, home-based setting, we are seeking a mature and compassionate individual with a strong understanding of all aspects of care and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred support. It would be ideal to live in the Northwest Area of London. As it's a Sunday position and if you are unable to drive and you will be reliant on the train and buses, they can sometimes have a reduced timetable on Sunday’s.
