The Role
The HR Business Partner works closely with leaders to build organisation and people capability, shaping and implementing effective people strategies and activities within the organisation, helping to implement the business strategy from a people perspective.
The role acts as the key point of contact for managers and staff on all employment issues. It is responsible for a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations matters, administration of our salaries policy and liaison with Payroll, advising on terms and condition of employment, maintenance of accurate HR records system, the provision of reports, updating policies and procedures, issuing amendments to contracts and supporting our work in relation to health, safety and welfare.
We take a values based, empathetic, pragmatic and, above all, a ‘human’ approach to people management and this role acts as a ‘business partner’ to leaders and managers to assist them to deliver for the Scouts.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in a broad range of HR advisory and administrative work, including change management processes, grievances, disciplinaries, capability and performance management processes
- Understand the employee lifecycle and the impact of people practices
- Experience of maintaining an HRIS, reporting from it, analysing data and using data insights to support informed people practices
- Experience of mediating or facilitating conversations to find resolutions
- Experience in issuing contracts of employments, amendments and ending fixed term contracts
- Experience of supporting staffs’ health and wellbeing, understanding its importance and how it can be impacted
- Good working, up to date knowledge of employment law and best HR practice and how to apply it ensuring compliance
- Extensive knowledge of general HR administrative systems and processes
- Contribute to the design & implementation of the team’s key objectives and programmes of work
- Act as a trusted business partner to managers across a number of departments to achieve their objectives, supporting people strategies, challenges and plans where necessary, within the remit of this role
- Provide advice and coach managers in supporting their teams’ health and wellbeing ensuring it is considered in all people practices
- Provide an advisory service to managers and staff regarding all people matters, considering individual and business needs to ensure the best outcome for all parties, referring anything outside the remit of this role to other members of the People team and escalating complex matters to the Head of People
- Manage employee relations cases, providing advice and support in respect of absence management, occupational health, terms and conditions of employment, capability, performance, grievance and disciplinary matters etc.
- Take overall responsibility for the HR team’s personnel records, including maintenance of the HRIS
- Take overall responsibility for the provision of information to Payroll and associated administration
- Assist the Head of People & Culture with HR policy development
- Lead on the design and implementation of staff change programmes including restructures and redundancies
- Review of legislation updates and the impact on the organisation, policies and practices
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports on all aspects of staffing matters, including analysis of staff metrics reports, identifying trends and making recommendations based on these data insights
- Ability to provide a high quality professional HR advisory service, build relationships and gain respect from managers and staff
- Excellent communications skills
- High level IT skills to make maximum use of our HRIS and ability to analyse employee data
