Payroll Project Specialist – 6 Month FTC

We’re supporting a well-known, multi-site retail organisation with a 6-month Payroll Project Specialist requirement to support a busy payroll and people systems function through a number of critical projects and peak activity periods.

This is a hands‑on specialist role, ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and supporting delivery, testing, and compliance — rather than managing a team.

Working closely with Payroll, HR, HRIS and IT teams, you’ll provide project and operational support across several payroll-related initiatives, including system testing, year-end activity and reward cycles.

• Supporting payroll system testing, including Quinyx, working alongside IT and HRIS implementation teams
• Providing hands‑on support to Payroll Supervisors across payroll process and compliance projects
• Supporting key payroll events such as:
• Annual pay review (effective 1 April)
• Bonus calculations, reconciliations and payroll processing
• Tax year-end activity (P11
  
  Ds, P60s, reconciliations)
• Assisting with internal and external audit testing and data requests
• Supporting benefits administration and submissions (including Benifex)
• Providing project support for a Retail benefits launch, including testing and data validation
• Ad hoc payroll and project support as required in a fast‑moving environment

• Strong hands‑on payroll experience (UK payroll essential)
• Comfortable supporting payroll projects, testing and compliance work
• Experience working with payroll and HR systems (Quinyx and/or Benifex highly beneficial)
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and confident working across multiple stakeholders
• Happy in a delivery‑focused role with no direct reports

• During first 12 weeks: 4 days in the office / 1 day from home

• Salary range £45,000 – £70,000 depending on experience
