Job Overview

Our Colleague Strategy is focused on making TfL a great place to work for everyone and the Reward Strategy that underpins this is focused on transforming our Reward to make it fair, transparent and attractive for all whilst keeping it affordable.

We are developing and implementing significant changes in Reward s includes in pay management and our journey towards pay transparency, rethinking our approach to our performance pay schemes and reinvigorating our benefits and recognition through benchmarking and actively listening to our people’s needs whilst maintaining our overall focus on affordability.

As one of a small team of Reward Specialists you will support three Senior Reward Managers to deliver on the wide range of compensation and benefits cyclical reward activities you would expect in a large organisation, as well as working on projects to evolve and deliver our reward strategy to better support our need for financial sustainability whilst providing a cohesive, fairer and more transparent reward proposition for our people overall.

You will be supported by a small team of Reward Analysts, who also report to the Senior Reward Manager.

Your expertise in reward processes, stakeholder management, pay management, strategic problem solving, experience of working in a large, complex unionised environment (private or public sector) and demonstration of your ability to manage reward projects will help you stand out as a candidate.

Key accountabilities

  • Evaluate and design reward frameworks for compensation, benefits and recognition for the organisation to ensure that it delivers the intended outcomes to the business and our people
  • Ensure the successful delivery of key reward, compensation processes including benchmarking, annual pay reviews, pay gap reporting and performance awards aligned to reward plans supported by the Reward Analyst/s. Ensure collaboration with HR Operations and Business Partnering to understand requirements and effectively meet the needs of the business
  • Provide robust reward guidance and advice on impacts and risks to support union and/or staff negotiations in support of reward and benefits development, governance, compliance and benchmarking activities.
  • Develop external networks and work collaboratively with a range of contacts and/or providers to benchmark TfL's position against external industry and market across the full total reward and benefits package
  • Manage and maintain relationship with 3rd party suppliers including contractual, commercial and procurement activities.
  • Support the implementation of any potential changes to our wider reward, recognition and benefits frameworks.

What you can offer us

  • You will be able to demonstrate previous success of designing, delivering and communicating Reward solutions aligned to business and people strategies within a large, complex organisation. An understanding of employee benefits including voluntary schemes, tax efficient salary sacrifice and benefit in kind arrangements is also invaluable.
  • Beyond your proven Reward expertise, your desire and ability to work collaboratively with your colleagues in Reward as well as more widely across our People function is a pre-requisite for success. You will enjoy working together as a team of experts and sharing knowledge.
  • You have an ability to think strategically with an eye to the future and how we can evolve our Reward offering in addition to being highly competent in cyclical and operational Reward processes.
  • Through your own networks and resources, you keep yourself updated on developments in Reward and are keen to apply this to shape our future.
