An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Interim Head of Human Resources at the UK Debt Management Office (DMO). This pivotal role reports directly to the CEO and/or Deputy CEO and operates as a trusted adviser on all staff and resourcing issues. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the HR capability to meet strategic organisational challenges and opportunities.

The Role
  • Act as the principal adviser to the Executive Committee on strategic and operational staff and resourcing matters.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing HR team to improve output and delivery, aligning with the DMO’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on a full range of staff issues including resourcing, succession planning, remuneration, performance management, inclusion, well-being, and learning and development.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices are informed by current best practices on equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Build strong internal networks to support the delivery of the DMO’s key priorities.
  • Manage organisational design, operating models, and policies to effectively develop and deploy resources.
  • Champion data and insight reporting to underpin initiative and policy design.
  • Build effective relationships across the DMO to ensure the HR function meets organisational needs and remains fit for purpose.
  • Utilise relationships with the DMO’s Staff Council to engage staff fully.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in a generalist HR role, partnering with senior management teams.
  • Proven track record in leading and delivering aspects of change management across various people issues.
  • Strong people management skills and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and best practice in Employment Law, Employee Relations, Resourcing and Talent Management, Learning & Development, Reward, and Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Chartered MCIPD qualification is preferred, or evidence of strong commitment to continuing professional development.
