The Leather sellers’ Federation of Schools wish to appoint an HR & Payroll Apprentice to join our central HR Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to start your career in HR, gain a recognised Level 3 qualification in HR and CIPD accreditation and develop your skills and knowledge of HR policies and procedures. You will gain insight into how HR services are managed across our schools, whilst working as part of our supportive team. As this is an entry level position, previous HR experience is not required and you will be given dedicated time to pursue your Level 3 qualification.

Created in 2008, the Federation educates over 3000 students in Lewisham and comprises Prendergast School, Prendergast Vale School and Prendergast Ladywell School. The Federation enjoys a close relationship with The Leather sellers’ Company which dates back to the 15th Century.

The role is based in Prendergast School although there will be a requirement to visit our other schools. You will work 35 hours a week throughout the year and be employed on a fixed term contract for 18 months.

About you:
  • You have A levels or equivalent and a minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including English and mathematics.

  • You have experience using a range of software packages, with a strong willingness to champion Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) to match our digital environment.

  • You possess excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of managing face-to-face and telephone enquiries professionally to provide high-level customer service.

  • You demonstrate a strong ability to multitask, manage your own workload to meet deadlines, and produce work to a high standard.

  • You have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, demonstrating a keenness to learn, take direction, and remain flexible to adapt to changing work requirements.

  • You act as a proactive role model with a steadfast commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of our pupils.
