DBA | Asset Management - £90,000 per annum - London
A leading asset manager is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to support and enhance its enterprise database platforms, ensuring stability, resilience, and performance across mission‑critical systems used by investment, operations, and risk teams.
This role will sit within the firm’s core infrastructure function and take ownership of the SQL Server and Oracle estate, playing a key role in shaping database strategy, supporting system reliability, and ensuring regulatory and operational standards are met.
You will manage high‑availability SQL Server and/or Oracle platforms across both production and non‑production environments, ensuring optimal performance and uptime for critical trading and investment systems. Troubleshooting complex database issues and leading root‑cause analysis to prevent recurrence will be key aspects of the role. You will optimise database configurations and queries to support low‑latency, high‑throughput workloads and coordinate environment refreshes and data replication across development, UAT, and production environments to maintain consistency and availability.
Implementing and maintaining robust backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery strategies, as well as participating in failover testing and incident response processes, will also be essential. Additionally, you will apply patches, manage upgrades, and enforce configuration standards in alignment with infrastructure change controls and regulatory requirements. Developing automation scripts using tools such as Power Shell and T‑SQL will help streamline operational tasks and reduce manual intervention.
